Brandon’s Commentary

I don't say enough about the huge movement of formerly incarcerated people out here in the "free-world", who are working on behalf of you all inside. I am one person in all of this but there are thousands of people across the country who have become academically successful upon release from prison. This past April I attended the 15th annual National Conference for Higher Education in Prison ("NCHEP"). This conference is held every year and is made up of college and university professors and administrators as well as people like myself, who served time in prison and now work inside the prison systems' college programs. It's a pretty awesome conference and over the years you all may hear more and more about it. This was my 7th time attending. I did some quick interviews of friends of mine. These are all formerly incarcerated people from different parts of the country who are working inside the prisons or working in reentry or legislation or some other part of this movement. As people currently serving time in prison we consider you part of this movement to the degree that you want to change your lives through education. If there is nothing else on the prison tablets introducing you to these people and this movement, then don't forget where you heard about it first! When I go to these conferences it's cool to meet people who just got out of prison and watched Brandon's Commentary! Its also cool when people from other states tell me their students or family and friends have been watching the Commentary.
