Fallacies: Ep. 1 Ad Hominem
This is the first of a series of 25 videos on informal fallacies.
In my series on critical thinking I made a video on informal fallacies and gave 3 examples. I suggest you go back and watch that video first. It is titled "CT Ep. 9: The Obstacle of Informal Fallacies."
In this video I discuss the ad hominem fallacy, which I already discussed in the earlier video, but I elaborate a bit more.
The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy breaks it down like this: ‘An ad hominem fallacy occurs when, instead of addressing the merits of the argument, a speaker attacks the opponent’s character or circumstances.’
Dr. P. Shockley (aka Doc Shock), who is a university professor of philosophy, allowed me to film this series at his house in his awesome library.
